#7 - Blaming Diabetes #NHBPM

I know I am not the only one that instantly thinks diabetes when something --- anything is wrong with a non-D kiddo.

I'm embarrassed to tell you that I sometimes sneak in and check the girls' bg when they are sleeping.  Please tell me I'm not the only one?!?!

Lately my daughter, Emma has been acting different.  I can't quite put my finger on it.  A little lethargic, she moves slowly, she's lost the skip in her step ---- she's got no bounce.  Her face always looks just a little sad and her eyes have dark circles around them.  For about a week she complained of a tummy ache without any vomiting or diarrhea but she does seem a little green.  Halloween night she was just ho-hum and kind of tagged along towards the back and was the 1st one ready to call it a night.  Today she got home from her Y-Princess camp out with her daddy and again was just ho-hum.  Jim said she was pretty lethargic and lackadaisical the entire trip which just broke my heart.  I know how much they were both looking forward to this trip. Her school work is suffering and I feel like I am always 'on' her.

Today it hit me!

Holy CRAP. She has diabetes.  This is it.  I just know it.  Tummy ache, change in demeanor, tired, lethargic.
She has Ducking Fiabetes!!!

Longest 5 seconds ever . . .

Ok, she doesn't have diabetes.

Now I'm still left wondering what is wrong with my sweet little thing.  :(

Keep calm and keep plugging along . . .

I can so relate to this post, I don't even wait until my kids are sleeping. I just check them as soon as I see a "symptom". Funny thing is I only see the symptoms in my kids that are 3 and under. Cara was dx at 3 and I think I'm mentally seeing all little ones as diabetics.

So scary!! I'm convinced my little Cody has diabetes but the numbers are telling me differently!! Big hugs SW xoxox

I know I test my kids regularly. And, anytime someone is using the bathroom a lot, I get out my ketone sticks that also read sugar in the urine...I just can't help myself.

Sweet Girl gets her finger poked about once every other month or so. Its always been fine. But its like my mind is constantly looking for diabetes... around every corner. I have even seen things in other peoples children and had to resist asking if I could check THEIR sugar! Oy!!

Sorry she is not being herself and I hope she feels better soon.
I just check my 2.5 year olds BS last week because she hasn't been herself lately. Luckily, it came back fine, but still worry about what is going on inside these little bodies.

Oh I have done it too sweetie! I'm so glad that Emma's number was good...but really hoping she perks up soon! Could it be a virus coming on?

And Donna cracked me up wanting to check other people's kids too!
